Just like any other year, the 2018 Valentine’s day was also a day of red roses and heart shaped chocolates. Those who were in relationships were racking their brains to figure out the perfect gifts for their better halves. Those who weren’t, were sulking as always, determined to make the most off the discounts and promotions at restaurants. All jokes aside, Valentine’s day is one of those days where you’ll hear heart melting stories that would indubitably warm the coldest and the most cynical of us.
Valentine’s day is not a competition, but if it were, Michelle Obama would have won it, hands down. Just when everyone was getting tired of seeing the same boring Valentines posts on social media, Michelle’s tweet to her “one and only” Barack, blew up the internet.

Everything about the simple tweet was thoughtful. The love that she has for him was crystal clear as she dedicated “a little” playlist complied of romantic songs, both old and new. Some of the romantic songs in her playlist include, Berry White’s “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe”, Calvin Harris’s “How Deep Is Your Love?” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”. One of the most special songs in the “Forever Mine” playlist is “At Last” by Etta James, which they danced to in the 2009 inauguration.
The couple has always been a favorite among everyone around the globe. Their relationship was very much like one from a book or a movie and it remains so, to this day. They’ve been there to make each other strong through thick and thin. Barack explains how they manage their marriage life and keep the romance alive: “what I learned in those eight years is home is where we make it. We were in the White House for eight years, but it wasn’t the house, it was us in it. It was our values and our love for each other, and we just move that to another house.”
Why you should also opt for a playlist for the next Valentine’s day:
A special customized playlist is the modern day’s mixed tape. It shows how much you care for the person by compiling a list of the songs that instantly make you think of them. It might not be extremely time or energy consuming, but it is pouring with love and thoughtfulness. If your partner is somewhat on the sentimental side, this would make them feel your love so much more, even after all these years. And if your partner doesn’t like to betray his emotions, you will always have a good list of romantic songs all set for date night or some alone time. Either way, take a lesson from Michelle, and make a playlist for the Valentine’s day next year. You won’t regret it.
